Productivity Planner

Hello, everyone. Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the holidays with you friends and family. This post is part one of the two journals that I use on a daily basis.

I have read a lot of books on self-development and personal growth. I have noticed a topic that those authors like to touch on quite frequently, which is having a well organized to do list. Haveing an organized to-do list can make the difference on how productive your day can be. So, let’s not delay and get right into it.

I currently have a leather black journal that I keep with me at all times.   I write all my notes, to do list and even my monthly budgets. I will be honest; it is not the most organized book, but it gets the job done.

PRODUCTIVITY PLANNER is not journal, but a well-organized planner that can serve two purposes.  First, it a to do list planner and second; it will help me maximize my time more efficiently.


Before you begin the week, you need to establish the necessary goals that you need to do by the end of the week.  The PLANNER will start off the week with a single page that separates your tasks from VERY IMPORTANT to LEAST IMPORTANT.

The first category is to list the most important tasks that you NEED to get done for that week. The point of this category is to understand that these are the most pressing and important tasks that you must complete. Why? Because of more than likely, these are the things that are keeping you up at night or giving you anxiety. Therefore, you should do these tasks first.

The second category is the tasks that are important, but not as pressing as the first. The idea is, you should not touch this section until you complete the to-do list in the first category. (“This will make more sense when I show you the actual days.”)

Lastly, the third category is the bonus round. Once you have completed the most urgent tasks, then you can move on to things that are not pressing, but still important for you. It can be things like, practice your handwriting, call that friend you haven’t seen or talked for a while.

Once you have your weekly goals ready to go, it is time to begin!!


I make sure to write down my to-do list the night before so, which I will not forget what I need to get done the next day. If not, I know that I will toss and turn all night thinking about the things that I need to get done. Having them written down gives me a sense of comfort that I will not forget what it is I need to get done.

Just like the FIVE MINUTE JOURNAL, the first thing you see is an inspiring quote. If you did your homework the night before, then there is no need to remember what you need to get done, because you already jotted that down last night. Start wit the most important task first and then move down as you complete them. Here comes the secret to this book and what really helped me get things done. The Pomodoro Method.

The Pomodoro Method is working on a task or project for 25 minutes increments., This is where I found to be the most helpful because I never really had good study habits. I used to think that the only way to really get things done, is to work for extended periods of time and do not stop until it is complete. Ever since I started this method, I have gotten more things done than I ever had before.

If you notice, that there are bubbles near your tasks. Each bubble represents each Pomodoro session it will take to get your task done. What I like about this method, is that before you start the task, you can write down how many Pomodoro sessions it will take for you to complete your task.

Say, for example; you need to create a logo for your company, and you may think it will take you two hour to complete it. Then you write down “4.” ( Each Pomodoro session is 25 minutes.)

What I have pleasantly found is that I usually finished before the time I give myself. I then look back at it, and then I say to myself, “Wow, that wasn’t so terrible: it didn’t take that long!” So, I am approaching my tasks more positively now, because I get them done a lot sooner than I expect.

Before you head to bed. Open up your PLANNER again and answer one last question.

“How productive were you today?”

You can grade yourself on a scale of 1 to 10. Don’t sweat it; I was given myself 5’s until I got the hang of it.



Once you have completed your five days, then comes some reflection of how your week went. The reflection is the part that will show how you have been spending your time throughout the week.

The book will ask you the following:

Your weekly wins
The tasks that you did not complete
The things you learned from that week.
Lastly, what actions can you take to ensure more success with your to- do list.

I really like this part because it forces me to take stock of how I am using my time and resources. Like, do I take a two-hour nap or do I meditate for ten minutes? Do I wake up early and work on my goals, or do I sleep until I have to go to work? Where are the hours and the minutes of my day going?


I have been using this PLANNER for almost three months now, and I really love it. When I open my book and look at what I need to do, I feel prepared and ready! I feel more confident than before when I would write down the things that were giving me anxiety and just work on them in any order and in any way possible.

I do not see the PRODUCTIVITY PLANNER as a gift but as necessity!!! Why? We need something to keep us in line and keep our goals visible to us at all times. We have distractions everywhere we go so; naturally, we will get off track now and then.
