Hey, everyone, I hope all of you are doing well today.

Today it is HUMPDAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Haha, I sound like I just said the secret word on the Pee Wee Herman’s playhouse…lol
HUMPDAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

Okay, but for real now guys. Every Wednesday on my blog, I will feature a new product, tutorial, how to videos, life hacks, and accessibility settings to help the low vision and blind community deal with limited vision on our terms.

On a side note. When I am writing, I am always listening to music to inspire and motivate me. If you like 90’s R&B, then the Pandora station if Usher is awesome. Nowadays, I really do not hear that much R&B, so when I do hear it, I definitely appreciate it. Next time you are listening to your streaming app, try 90’S R&B.

On to the tech post.

Today I have the myth the legend, SAM FROM THE BLIND SPOT. He has a great youtube channel which you should subscribe to because; he has some pretty impressive reviews for the low vision and blind community. Sam is also legally blind so, hearing his reviews on products made for the low vision and blind community which makes him a credible source. I find his videos help when I want to purchase low vision needs or looking for a life hack to deal with low vision living.

In this video, SAM FROM THE BLIND SPOT will show you how to make your regular Android Phone into a big CLOCK.

On a side note. When I am writing, I am always listening to music to inspire and motivate me. I am at Starbucks now, and I am listening to a cool station on Spotify called “Chill Indie Covers.” It is a great station to listen too because it is easy listening and the station has a lot of covers of my favorite songs. Check it out!

GUEST POST: IRISVISION

GUEST POST: SAM FROM THE BLIND SPOT WITH IRISVISION

Here is another great tech review from SAM from the Blind Spot.  Sam has a great youtube channel with great Tech reviews. He makes all his videos in-house and demos some pretty cool gadgets for the low vision and blind community.

Check out his review on the IRISVISION goggles.  These goggles require a Samsung 7 phone to operate the device.  The phone will serve as a binocular and magnifier to help you read print close up and far away.    Sam does a much better job than I do explaining the product, therefore, it is why I like his videos.  Check him out and please subscribe to his channel.

AIRA

This is my very first post for the Technology and the Low Vision/Bind post (LV & Blind news.). With these posts, I want to educate my community that there are amazing technologies and services looking to serve our community.  So, I will do my best to comb the internet fo the latest and greatest.  DeMarco,  AKA:  THE LOW VISION GUY

AIRA: VISUAL INTERPRETER FOR THE BLIND

For my first tech blog, I would like to introduce my readers tot he world of AIRA: VISUAL INTERPRETER FOR THE BLIND.

https://www.aira.io/#home

This is a service that uses the Google Glass technology.   The Google Glass has been around for maybe 3 to 4 years max.  So far, the glasses are pretty cool to use, but the market hasn’t really seen a major need for them -yet.

The founders of the Aira decided to use them for the low vision and blind community to help them become more independent.  How so?  Well, the glasses are paired up to your phone while the consumer is wearing the glasses.  While the customer has their phone and Google glasses paired, they also have access to trained Aira agents on the line willing and able to help with almost any task that you need.  From what I understand, they are your eyes for whatever you need.  From looking at the website, the main focus is to bring back the independence to the low vision and blind community.

If you go to Aira’s main page, they have a short clip of how the product works.  As a consumer, I can see how it might be a little scary at first, however, Aira has trained their staff to help you with commuting across the city via public transportation, do grocery shopping and even finding a friend at a public restaurant.

Very Cool!!!

So cool in fact that they teamed up with the American federation of the Blind in bringing more awareness to our community and educating us on how it works.  You can read more about it here.

In the meantime, If you want more information on how to use their services.  Link below

If you have a passion for helping people and you think this is something you would like to do, then Aira is hiring for part-time agents.  Link below
