LOW VISION AND NOT DRIVING

Low vision and not driving

Hey Everyone, Low Vision Guy here!!

I wanted to express an experience that I keep running into.

As someone with a vision impairment, there are certain limitations that we have. For example, I can’t contribute much to a road trip, If we have to take turns for driving. I can’t pick up a girl for the date and much less, give someone a ride if they “really” needed it. I never get pick as the designated driver if I go out with friends.

People forget, driving is not a right, it’s a privilege to have. At times, with some friends, I feel useless. Maybe it’s a good thing, because when they do need something from me, they will really need something other than a ride. Although, it is always nice to be needed.

What are your thoughts?

JUST LET IT GO

JUST LET IT GO AND MOVE ON

There are times in our lives when we have to depart from someone, a location, and even a pet.  For me,  It is by more the most difficult thing to do; because the idea of losing it forever, freaks me out.  Whatever the case may be, we  all have heard the same advice before, “just let it go”

JUST LET IT GO

If you are reading this article,  it’s because you are having a hard time letting go of something or someone.  I am here to tell you that it’s okay for you to go through those feelings.  You will have your moments where you will miss them at random times, especially when you see a familiar place that reminds you of someone or; hear a song that reminds you of your favorite city that you miss.  I am here to tell you that you can let it go!!   It may not happen overnight or the next week, but eventually you will replace that feeling with something else.  With what, I don’t know, that is your journey to find out.

Will you ever be normal again?  I promise you, YESl!!  How do I know, because I have been in this situation many times and its gets slighter as you go through it. Although,  I have my moments where I get real sad for days, than after a while, I understand and accept the feeling and move on.  As long as you acknowledge it and accept it, you will be fine, however that is not enough.  You need to work on yourself and your goals because only then, will you feel content with letting go.  If you sit there and let yourself be sad, then the darkness will eventually overcome you and coming back to the light side will be a lot harder.

Just understand that it is part of life and even though that experience you are missing has taught you a lot and shared many moment, appreciate them!!  Appreciate them because those are the moments that made you who you are today.  So, just let it go

You are awesome and special.  it is a privilege for someone to be with you!  Remember, you make this world a better place.

How I came across this book.

I currently subscribe to a dating site called Real Social Dynamics.(LINK)  This company’s main product is doing seminars on teaching men self-confidence and skills to talk to women. One of the coaches has a video blog that I follow and he mentioned the book that I am about to do a review on.  I was so impressed with his enthusiasm in the blog about the book, that I had to read it

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The author Chris Guillebeau is a pretty interesting guy.  Every time I talk about the author, I always find myself bringing up the fact that the author set a goal to travel to every single country in the world.  That is so awesome because most of us believe that the only way we can do that is when we retire or win the lotto.

With Chris, that’s not the case. He is someone who has created micro-businesses that would allow him to have the freedom to do the things that he loves doing.  Which is traveling, speaking engagements, music, more time on growing his business and most importantly, with his family.  He has become such an expert on traveling that another section of his business, is called TRAVEL HACKING.  Being that he would travel to 25 to 30 countries a year, he has picked up a few tricks and hacks along the way to help him save money and travel. As a result, his readers kept asking how he was able to travel so much and not end up on the street?  In the end, he created a great service for helping people who wanted to travel without spending their life savings.

What I liked about this book?

Apart from envying the authors lifestyle, he applies his life values as being an unconventional person living in a conventional world.  For example, he encourages to make all your life decisions around the goals and dreams that you want to achieve.  For example, the author purposely lives in a city where he can conveniently get around without a car.  As a result, he will have more money for his traveling and less material things to hold him back.

BOOK REVIEW THE ART OF NON-CONFORMITY

Another reason that I love this book is that, it’s great for the inner entrepreneur in you. He makes a great argument that you can have your business, make money and help people at the same time.  I believe that in this country, the media and movies have put a bad image on people with money.  Let’s remind us that there are people who have a successful business and still make tons of money while helping millions of people.  For example, Tony Robins, Dave Ramsey, Robert Kawasaki which are a few to mention.  So it’s okay to have a successful business while making money and helping people at the same time.

(So many great things about this book that it’s hard picking the sections that I like, and making sure not giving away the whole book.)

One last great point that Chris brings up is the book and definitely worth mentioning.  When we think of entrepreneur or owning your business, you don’t always need to make a million dollars.  Although, it would be nice and who would complain about that, however; what if you had a business of doing something that you love and getting paid exactly the same amount as your current job?  Think about it, would you trade your day job for something you enjoy doing (Granted, it has to be a product or service that people are willing to pay for) and getting paid the same amount of money as your current job?

Doesn’t sound like a bad trade off!  Chris’s point is to create a micro business that will allow you to sustain your lifestyle while being a non-conformists. If you can’t make $300,000 a year, then settle for making $40,000 doing something you love!

Who is this book for?

Like all books, every book is different and it could mean differently to some people.  This book is great for someone who is tired of their 9 to 5 and want something more to do in their lives.  This is a great book for someone who wants to break out and start their own business so that they can have more time for their themselves or their family.  Maybe you or your friend are not cut out of having a boss and someone telling you when you can go on vacation.

This book is a great reminder that you only have to make enough money to eat and pay the bills!! Lastly, this is a great book for someone who has a scarcity mindset and believes that there is not enough to go around in the world.  Let’s be clear, there are people in this world that became millionaires multiple times in their lifetime.  You can do that too if you that Is what you want.
